Pau is a city born around it´s wall, strategically located 50 km from the Spanish border. With great importance and with a historical and architectural heritage, today Pau is a charming tourist destination.
In 1901 the Grand Prix du Sud-Ouest was organized here, the first event in the world entitled “Grand Prix”. The designation has become universal and remains in use to date. In this circuit with very strong tradition, competitions of all kinds were held, including Formula 1, 2 and 3000, WTCC, among others.
In 1933 the course was modified and the test titled Grand Prix de Pau Historique. This is just one of five circuits worldwide that since 1933 have used the same layout. Over the 2,760 mt perimeter, the action takes place right in the center of the city, between narrow streets, stone walls and gardens, with the Pyrenees as backdrop, creating a breathtaking atmosphere.
The circuit, also known as “Little Monaco”, hosts an annual classic car festival where a very restricted set of competitions are admitted, were the Iberian Historic Endurance has proud to be included.
